Rick, You're making too big a deal of this. A new user (one who might be overwhelmed) is not prepared to write logon scripts, etc. (S)he probably doesn't know what a logon script is let alone how to write one. Like your 'solution' for the large .CO file, this is a situation for 'low-tech'. When I log on a new BBS, I first explore the message base as that tells me about the board and it's character. But that's not what I did when I was new to BBSs; back then I went for the file directories first to see what I could download. The BBSs that provided the most usefull files in the easiest to download form were the ones that I returned to. Later I discovered that there was another whole world in the message base. My idea of the ideal BBS is very different now from when I first started and 'felt that excitement' of discovery. Jim
