Subj: REPLY TO MSG #5109 (RICK'S DEALS)
---- Hi Mark. Got your message about being confused as to where the "Rick's Deals" is now, how about a manual, and about file transfers between your Model 102 and your other computer. First, the "Rick's Deals." From the top menu select (2)ForSaleAds Then select (R)ead ads Then sellect (4)consignment And last but not least, select (2)the list I know... it's a little on the wierd side but that's the way I think. (grin) As for manuals... the model 100 manual is just as good... if not a bit more better even. Ouch! Was that English? I have a few laying around in really good shape and will let you have one for $10 bucks. Transfering .DO files from a Model 102 to any other computer is very easy. Let me present a generic concept. The .DO file is an ASCII file created with the TEXT program in your Model 102. --- 1) Connect your Model 102 to your other computer via the serial port--assuing that you other computer has an IEEE RS232C port. The port's shape is not important as long as it's RS232C, or just RS232. The connection is made with a serial cable and a null-modem adaptor. The actually connectors can be mated with adaptors found at any good computer store. 2) Go into TELCOM on your Model 102 and go into whatever communications program you have for the other computer--it does not matter. 3) Set the baud rate the same for each computer. Example: To set the baud rate to 1200 baud on your Model 102, while in TELCOM, tap the STAT key, type in 58N1E and hit <enter>. This means 1200 baud, 8 bit word, no parity, one stop bit, enable xon/xoff flow control. I can't tell you how to set the baud, etc. on your other computer but will assume you can figure that end out. 4) Go into Term mode on both computers. This is accomnplished by tapping your <f4>Term function key on your Model 102. At this point, you should be able to key something on one computer and see it on the screen of the other computer. I won't go into why at this point, surfice to say that you are now talking between your two computers. To transfer a file from your Model 102 to your other computer is easy. 1) Open a capture file in ASCII on your other computer. 2) Tap your <f3>Up function key on your Model 102. 3) Enter the name of the file on your Model 102 without the .DO extension, then hit <enter> <enter> . . . ignoring the "width" prompt. The file will transfer at 1200 baud from your Model 102 to your other computer--actually it will move at 600 baud due to th speed of your Model 102's LCD but that's another story for another day. When the file is finished transfering, simply close the capture file on your other computer and you've got it! You may pick that file up with any word processing program by either loading it directly, or inserting it into a working file. If you want to delete the file from your Model 102, simply go into BASIC, key in KILL"filename.DO" and hit <enter>. The term "filename" stands for the actual name of the .DO file in your Model 102. --- That's the generic way to transfer .DO files from a Model 102 to any other computer. This method is the same for Model 100 and only different in the setting for the stat for a Model 200. There are easier and slicker ways to transfer file to Mac and DOS computers but again, I will leave that for another time. Hope this helps. -Rick- FYI: I've moved this message into the (1)Conference area for others to add their 2 cents, or to gain information. It's always fun to share knowledge cause you never know when someone will pop in with a different method to do things; or way to think. That's the nifty thing about a user group--never a dull moment! (grin)
