Subj: "INSIDE THE MODEL 100"

Hello, Rick - As you (may) know, I am a recently-joined member. I would have
joined in December 1983, had I known there was a Model 100 Club then (???).
That's when I bought my M100...
I seem to recall someone askjing about the availability of the book "Inside
the Model 100." In the course of my (almost) ten years owning a "100," I joined
NYLUG in 198?4? or thereabouts. I was then a suit/shirt/tie-wearing
9:30-to-5:30 citified white-collar-type (of necessity, more-or-less). NYLUG was
(is?) the New York Lap Users' Group (don't we all use laps?) - 80% or more of
its (approximately) 25/30 members used the Model 100. The few others owned
Model 200, NEC laptop (8201?) and ...that was it (there weren't no other,
much). The ultimate point of this dithyramb is that one member of NYLUG (circa
1985 or so) was (is?) Carl Oppedahl, JD, author of "Inside the M100," which
came out about that time. Carl made the book available to NYLUG members, but my
copy got lost in the shuffle over the last seven years. However, Carl (who is a
full-time lawyer, specializing in technical litigation, since he has a Physics
B.S. from Grinnell College, IA to go with his Harvard Law degree) made his
phone number available (at that time, 1985ish). By chance, I still have both
his "daytime" [law firm] number and his night[home] number. I can't say these
are still valid, and I never had cause to call either. But if someone out there
is desperate for a copy of "Inside the Model 100," he/she (she/he?) could give
a call and see what happens... [Don't mention my name if he threatens to sue
somebody] Try [day] 212-687-8181 (a receptionist will probably answer with the
nasme of the law firm, if the number is still valid, seven years later...);
"night" (remember East Coast/West Coast, etc. time differences; don't call at
9pm Pacific Time, for instance...) 212-777-0434 [not sure of that last digit; i
THINK it's a "4"; doesn't look like a "9"]. Most likely, this is an "unlisted"
number; and it may wel have changed in seven years - but there you are, for
what it's worth

Carl may just have a few copies left in his closet -
