dHP Lr"o<( ++Hi, Rick, Once a Perotista, always a Perotista? Sure, seems
pretty looney but who am I to talk? I agreed with most of his concerns on
NAFTA, particularly by the time of the Algore "debate," by which time
he'dmodified his (RP's) position toward demanding a better NAFTA that wouldn't
exploit the Mexicans, rather than simply opposing NAFTA outright. But I keep
wondering what RP's hidden agenda is, and there's the Cuban thing, and the
Black Panthers thing, and his daughter's wedding thing. On the other hand,
consider what we wound up with in Casablanca (as G. Gordon Liddy calls the
White House): "The Revenge of JFK's Hormones!!!", a Roger Corman film in
Testosteronimation!Oh, on the Model T thing: I talked with Mr. Woods last week
and suggested a few ideas, re: SIDKIK.BA. I didn't have my own 102 w/
Booster Pak handy, so I was winging it, but I think we'll get the problem
solved. BASICally, you gotta have NOTE.DO, ADRS.DO and ALARM.DO in the
Workspace (the conventional Model T's RAM space), with at least one
alpha+numeric character in each .DO file (empty files will cause an error
message when you try to run SIDKIK.BA). After you enter your real data, you
can delete the junk character. But if you delete all data from, say, ALARM.DO,
you'll get an error message. The trick to remember in getting accustomed to the
Booster Pak is distinguishing between the Workspace, the RAMdisk, and
Environments. The Workspace is exactly like your ordinary Model T's RAM. The
RAMdisk works just like a floppy or hard disk (or even a CD, if you've got a
read/write CD), only a tad more volatile
+ I've had one RAMdisk crash in 3 years, cause unknown, but probably operator
error. And, just like an MS+DOS PC, you can run a program straight from any
disk, but it still has to use up some RAM. So you can run SIDKIK.BA right out
of the RAMdisk, without actually having a copy in the Workspace, but the
program still must occupy, at least temporarily, some of the Workspace RAM.
And, since SIDKIK.BA will look for NOTE.DO, ADRS.DO and ALARM.DO, those must be
in the Workspace + SIDKIK.BA does not know how to look back into the RAMdisk
for these files.Environments are just customized Workspaces. Each Environment
can have your favorite programs and files "pre+loaded" (not really, but let's
call it that) and ready to go. You can have several Environments in each
Directory. This is just the Booster Pak's clever (or maddening + I prefer
clever) way of utilizing 32K of RAM in an incredibly efficient way.I have
reached 'nuff. 'Nuff. Happy holidays and a wonderful '94.<Lex>
