To DAVID BROWN #5051 LCD: it is very likely that something other than the LCD
per se is causing fading in & out of your M100 display. I recently bought a
pre-owned M100 from Club100 in which display was, on arrival, quixotic: slowly
or rapidly waxed & waned regardless of power supply, ambient temp, ambient
vibration, & whether M100 was upside down, etc. Having 3 fully functional
M100's, I simply interchanged "topHalves w lowerHalves". In all 3 combinations,
display remained faulty as long as it was attached to lowerHalf bought fm
Club100. Visual inspection & physical probing of lowerHalf circuitry revealed
no likely solder problems. I interchanged 3 RAM chips wo effect. Interchanging
the ROM likewise failed to cure the fade-in & fade-out. RickHanson suggested I
phone John Cassacia, but I haven't yet. Reading serviceManual taught me tht
there is 1 particular multipurpose companion chip -not CPU- which supports LCD
& several othr functions whch may be @ fault, but its solder points seemed
solid. Luckily for me, I am a heavy user of DVI, with which this otherwise
useless M100 functions perfectly! At any rate, buying a new LCD wont help you.
