Joe: Your questions about multiple computer use of this BBS, and how to load up
an XR4 if you don't have a rampac, tape, or disk drive are both excellent
questions that should be shared.

First, since you have only one userlog entry on this BBS, the parameters of
such must be shared between all your computers--I am not, however, suggesting
multiple userlog entries. That would drive both you and I nuts. I recommend
that you set your terminal width to 80 characters, regardless of DOS or Model T
use. Why? Because, it will read correctly on both machines, with a few
oddly-wrapped words on the Model T. But, for the most part, online text will
be very readable on both machines. Besides, should you be one who echo's to
their printer, or to a file while online, the 80 character line will fill a
normal printer's page, not just be a 40 character column down the left hand
edge of your page.

I also recommend that you NOT select display page output. Display page output
stops every so often--depending on how many lines you want it to display before
it stops--giving you the prompt, -More-. I presonally find this very
distracting, and definately in-the-way when capturing information to a file or
printer while online. Flow control--that's what it's called, Aka: XON/XOFF,
which should be termed, XOFF/XON--is best left to a hand pattern. This host
(TBBS: The Bread Board System by eSoft, Inc, Colorado) supports two different
sets of flow control, i.e., <ctrl><s>, <ctrl><Q>, and <p>, <enter>. I suggest
getting use to using <ctrl><s>, <Ctrl><q> for flow control as it is the most
universal.

The XR4 may be loaded directly through the COM ports of your DOS computer via a
null-modem cable. It's that simple! In fact, the XR4, as does the extRAM,
comes with programs called ROMCOM and COMROM, used for saving ROM images to the
DOS computer via the COM port and from the DOS computer via the COM port,
respectfully.

Hope that answers your questions successfully. Thanks for asking. Happy
holidays... -Rick-
