Subj: REPLY TO MSG #191 (BOARDWATCH)

I appreciate your "new-user" insights, past and present. Your comment about
going back to those boards that offer the most useful files in the easiest to
download form strikes at the heart of bbs use, i.e., what's in it for me?"
Then, as you matured--which could also mean that you became comfortable being
online--you discovered the value of the message base.

You also alluded to the new user as a "she." I don't know if that concept is
correct. Even today, the new user is a "he." The "he" feedback, at this stage
in my thinking is most important. Frankly, "hes" will log on to more systems
than "she." No offence intended, of course.

I can understand your comment about my making a big deal about this subject but
I need to understand that which I do not fully understand. There are good
reasons for my hashing this subject to death, right now. I'm looking for the
base-concepts that drive the needs and desires of online use, without tainting
the results.

Again, I really appreciate your feedback. I hope others will add their two
cents, as well, regardless of how trivial or obvious. That's what I'm looking
for, i.e., what drives folks to use or not use online services. -Rick-
