---- Richard: Thanks for the great endorsement of Lapdos II. The Lapdos II programs remains our biggest seller, and support for this club. You're right, the TPDD or TPDD2 will not function correctly when placed close to a PC monitor... or on top of the monitor for heaven's sake! :) I, personally, use A/B switch boxes--or A/B/C/D switch boxes--on the 5 DOS computers here in the lab. This allows me to not only get the serial devices away from the monitors, but to switch between more then one serial device, easily. On one of the DOS computers, I have a TPDD or TPDD2, Mouse, direct connect, and modem. I don't use any two devices at the same time but use all four devices thorughout the day. You're right about having to have a copy of the emmulator, LAPDOS.BA, in each of your RAM banks. It's a small price to pay, but easy to use. To switch between banks, go into one of your banks and run LAPDOS.BA. Next, run LAP.EXE on the DOS comptuer. Once connected, you can <shift><break> out of LAPDOS.BA on your laptop, switch banks, run LAPDOS.BA in the bank, then, with the cursor on the right hand side of your PC's monitor, select <L>og from the menu and hit <enter>. He's another trick: When you download a file from this BBS via your DOS computer, and that file comes in as an ASCII file with the extension of .BA, you do not have to rename it to .DO, first, before Lapdossing it over to your laptop for tokenization. Simply get the Lapdos II system going, then, with your cursor on the filename.BA file, select <C>opy, back out the .BA, replace it with .DO and hit <enter>. After you tokenize the .DO file to a "true" .BA file, use Lapdos II to copy the .BA file back over to the DOS computer, overwriting the existing non-true .BA file. I can't take credit for that trick--regardless of how obvious it is, NOW! Our Co-Sysop and Online Librarian, Robert Benson, found it first, and told me. Once again, the value of our association pays off for us all. The more we share the more we get in return. Thanks again for your note... -Rick-
