Speaking of comparing "obsolete" laptops and MS-DOS machines, I have a question
for you. The
place where I work finally computerized and although I was hoping for Mac's we
settled on IBM PS/2 55's I hate them, especially the size.... It can gobble up
my desk and room space. I decieded to free up my space and agreed to have the
machine moved into another room.

Now for the question: It looks like Tandy is about to discontinue the 1100 FD,
because it doesn't have a hard drive, limited memory, etc. and they have
slashed the price again on "sale," namely $499 or about $450 thru the mail. Do
you think it's a good deal??? I was thinking about just using my M102 and
maybe LapDos or going for an old WP-2 and a WPDOS Plus that Rick sells; but I
figure it would just be easier in the office to bring a disk over rather than
trying to hook up a cable with people working all around. This sale price is as
good as or better than the "used " prices I see advertised. My main concern is
just text imput and editing. I would still do the fancy stuff on the IBM with
WordPerfect 5.1. Am I shooting myself in the foot buying a "handicapped"
machine?? Or should I starve for a while and buy a more powerful (aka:
expensive) laptop.

Any thoughts??? Any one else out there have any reflections???
       Thanks
