---- Wow, James... that was super feedback. I studied it and annotated your roster info appropriately. Thank you... and yes, indeed, you are on the roster... forever!! Yes sir, I did receive the article--just the other day--thank you very much. That story was done on me two weeks before I had "TOON T" back on the road. I built from Apr'92-Nov'92, drove it since then for 3200 miles, then pulled it apart in Jul/Aug for paint, upholstery, etc. for the West Coast Nationals at the end of Aug. I was really jamming to get it finished--an obsession! A reporter from the San Jose Mercury News did the story. She got most of it right, but not being technical, she got the chip-name wrong, and also said things like "toy computer" and things that reflect her ignorance. On the whole, it was an okay article. And, it did bring in new business--especially from news agencies like Associated Press. To your dictionary question: Yes, Sardine on disk is what you're looking for. You're using TS-DOS on disk, now, with Multiplan or Interactive Solutions in your Model 100. I would say that Sardine on disk would be the way to fly--and yes, the dictionary disk (33,000 words) works in both the TPDD and TPDD2. You're all set. Another way to fly would be to get Sardine on ROM, and I throw in the disk version as well. This way, you could configure your Model 100 in several ways. 1) You could use the Sardine ROM for writing (T-Word) and spell check (Sardine), and call in TS-DOS disk from the Sardine ROM menu. 2) You could have a different ROM in your Model 100 and use the Sardine disk version. Sardine on disk is $39.95, complete with Sardine disk, dictionary disk, and manual. Sardine on ROM is $49.95, complete with Sardine on ROM, T-WORD on ROM, a small, (5000 word) dictionray on the ROM, the 33000 word dictionary on disk, and manuals for both Sardine and T-WORD. And, like I said, I would throw in the disk version of Sardine as well for no extra cost. The ROM is a much better deal--you get so much more for only $10 more. Aroud here we call this a killer deal. Frankly, at this stage in the game, I say it just makes good sence. Lastly, you do not need the Ultimate ROM II to run Sardine on disk. Yes, it will load and run from the URII menu, as will TS-DOS, but Sardine will also run quite well all by itself. Here are some PRO's and CON's on the subject. PRO: The Ultimate ROM II would complete your Model 100 package. You've already got TS-DOS on disk, and with a URII and Sardine disk you've got it all. CON: Maybe you want all the toys. That's fine. I'm that way, too. But let's say you don't need that sort of power cause you already have plenty of processing power on your DOS computers, and you already have Lapdos II for file transfers. Okay, then, given this premise, The Ultimate ROM II is overkill. PRO: Perhaps there are times when you need or want more processing power when you're away from your DOS computer resources. The Ultimate ROM II with Sardine disk and TS-DOS disk is the best you can configure. In this case it is not overkill but good sense. You can really get jobs done when in remote mode. Those are just a few ideas off the top of my head. If you don't mind, I'll move my answer to your question into the Conference for others to read but leave your message to me private. --- Thanks, too, for your BBS comments. I've started, yet again, a list of BBS-use suggestions. I think it would be a great service to be able to provide a listing, sorted by location, of who's online. I will look for a utility that will build just such a list from the online USERLOG file. FYI: The online userlog file IS NOT the file that contains customer information, i.e., credit cards, etc. That file is called the ROSTER and is on a separate computer with no incoming phone line, and is software locked. Hey, I know a liability when I see one. Another commend you made about not actually using the library as much as you want, is great feedback. Perhaps I could spotlight a few programs from the library every month--explaning their use, to encourage participation. As much as I appreciate the $12 income for library access, I really would like to know that you get value from library access. Oh, and no, it's not been updated since December last year. I and Robert Benson, the librarian, have been busy in other matters. AS the winter approaches, I am sure the library will gain more attention. Thanks again for your questions and feedback. Absolutely super! -Rick-
