Subj: REPLY TO MSG #536 (MEM PROBLEM)

Your memory loss of bank 0, only, could be a simple case of replacing the
internal nicad on the mother board. The add-on memory banks have their own
power source. I would change the internal nicad and see what happens. You can
do the job yourself or have Tandy do it for you.

I wouldn't give up on the old Model 100 so quickly. Yes, it is old but still
being sold new as Model 102s. Also, we're still growing at about 100 new users
each month. Many of these new users are new to Model 100 computing and haven't
experienced the joy of victory or the agony of a cold start. Just think of the
"fun" ahead of them.

By far, the greatest future for Model 100 computing is use as a remote to
another computer (DOS, UNIX, Mac, etc.). Also, HAM folks are using Model 100
computers more and more these days. And, those who have experienced Model 100
computing are coming back. I would say that half of the many calls I receive
daily concern folks dusting off the old Model 100 and putting it back into
service.

I, too, am using my Model 100 more these days. It's a great "thinking"
machine; a good planner, note taker, etc. Furthermore, I'm planning on
building a Model 100 into the 23' T roadster I'm building. It will power the
electrical controls. And get this: the motor is a mid-40's Ford V8 Flathead.
FLATHEADS FOREVER !
