Ricardo...

Counter to my recently posted analysis of Tandy, once in a while there is
happily a refreshing exception. The _only_ local Radio Shack store I will do
business with, not only actually has a manager who has been there in that
position for over a year (gasp!), but he actually knows something about
electronics (another gasp!).

I went over there today needing a printer cable for my new WP-2, but really
gasped when they wanted $32! He didn't have anything like a 26 to 25 pin
adapter for my T200/102 printer cable, so we set about mounting a 25 pin
connector about an inch down from the 26 pin connector.

I thought we'd created a two-headed snake when it wouldn't work on either
computer! A multi-meter check showed a short in pin 3, and carefully taking it
back apart we discovered that the "cradle" in the 25 pin head was a little
narrower than the 26 pin cable, which was crimping it together. Not to worry
says he, as he pulls out an exacto knife and carefully cuts a long slit in the
webbing between the last wire. Reassembling the 25 pin head with the last wire
looped over it took care of the problem, and the cable now works perfectly on
both computers!

Wouldn't it be nice if ever Tandy store was this way!(a nice fantasy).
