Subj: REPLY TO MSG #580 (FILES)
I believe that Robert is wondering why you were using the <E>xamine feature to capture files from the library. The <E>xamine option is soley for the purpose of looking into .ARC files, to see what files comprise the archive file. To the best of my knowledge, there are no .ARC files in our online library. Perhaps you the word <E>xamine is not clearly identified from the other commands. Please use the <H>elp option from the download prompt for option descriptions. To download from our library in ASCII, the best protocol is #3, ASCII no control codes. Options 1 and 2 are ok but may lead to more clean-up work on your end after the download. From the download prompt line, enter P 3 <enter> to set your protocol, then, enter the name of the file with its extension (filename.ext). Then, open a capture file on your end (stock laptops use <F2> filename <enter>) and hit enter to start the file coming your way. Once the file is finished transferring (the download prompt line returns) close your capture file (simply tap <F2>). Hope this helps... -Rick-
