----
Darren: I will jump in on the telcom stat settings question, including external
modem use.

First, the Model 100/102 telcom stat settings. The Model 200 includes a few
extra commands but is the same up to that point.

Baud rates
 M = internal modem
 1 =    75 baud out the RS232C port
 2 =   110  "    "   "     "    "
 3 =   300  "    "   "     "    "
 4 =   600  ...etc
 5 =  1200
 6 =  2400
 7 =  4800
 8 =  9600
 9 = 19200

Word lengths in bits
 6, 7 or 8

Parity
 E = even
 O = odd
 N = none
 I = ignore

Stop bits
 1 or 2

XON/XOFF status
 E = enable
 D = disable

Using an external modem at, let's say, 1200 baud.

1) Connect the modem to your RS232c port via a simple, serial cable--not null!

2) Go into TELCOM and set your STAT to 58N1E and hit <enter>

3) Go into term mode (f4) function key.

You are now talking to your external modem. If you key AT and hit <enter> your
modem should respond with OK. If you key AT&V <enter> your modem will display
its active configuration. To dial a number via tone dialing, simply enter
ATDTnumber <enter> . . . example  ATDT15109391246 <enter>  will tone dial this
BBS at 1200 baud through your external modem.

Note: The Club 100 online library contains programming to facilate external
modem use, example from the 3)Telcom list, see QX-COM.100 and QX-COM.DOC.
There are others, as well.

Hope this helps... -Rick-
