Subj: REPLY TO MSG #6793 (CALLER ID PROJECT)

Hmmm. As I recall, Caller ID and Caller Number are emmited in 1200 b.p.s.
Frequency Shift Keyed tone during idle intervals between burts of Ringing
power. Maybe it's 2400 b.p.s. Don't recall the audio carrier frequency but it
may be same as used on Bell 202 type modems.

If so, then an external modem and a Model T can do the job if the modem is
modified to "connect" without emitting a carrier BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND
RINGS. Hayes compatible modems won't do this due to legal restrictions.

Guess I best look up the technical details and get back to you.
