Subj: REPLY RE: M100 EXPANSION
Thanks for sending to me the thread on M100 expansion RAM. Okay! So I understand about the "prototype every time" syndrome. But it's still incredible that prices are so high when you consider that chip prices are so low!!! (see my reply to Rick Lopes this date). I'm willing to PAY for M100 expansion RAM (and I'm sure others would be, too) -- But I don't want to pay more than once!!! That's a big problem in the DOS world -- and a medium-sized problem in the MAC world. But it shouldn't be a problem at all in ANY world!! And now I'm thoroughly confused about the NODE Datapak. I thought it connected to the System Bus, too. Rick, you could do all M100/M102 users ( devotees) a great service by clearing up the mysteries of RAM upgrades. None of us wants to carry around a PDD everywhere we go. But some of us DO! And none of us wants to "connect" to a Mac or a DOS clone everytime we want to do some intense number-crunching or text procesing. Both systems are much more complicated than the simple, lowly M100/ M102. I've used both DOS and Mac, and I still love my M100 the best! If only I had more storage in the M100 I would be happy to put up with it's "snail's pace" processor!!! In fact, I'd be thrilled!!! But 32k -- really only 28k of actual storage -- just isn't enough. Perhaps Michael Daigle's "Tandy 300" ( the 'wish computer' described in 'Portable 100' magazine a few months ago ) will be the answer -- but somehow I don't think the folks in Fort Worth will get the message. And what about UltraSoft????? Are there REALLY some innovations there? (It irks me that they aren't on this BBS). Rick, thanks for the great BBS. -bob.
