Subj: MODEL 200 MEMORY
I'm wondering somewhere along the line if I've downloaded a program that is eating up some memory space in my Model 200 that I've never been able to clear. Just about all the literature I've read tells me I should have around 23,000 or 24,000 bytes. But event after cold starts, with nothing showing in the menu, my maximum available memory is 19,590. Is this normal, or is there some program I can run to check or clear everything out? I downloaded the program-clearing program that's in the online library some time back, and I've used it a number of times, but I still come up with 19,590. Is there anything else I can do. Also, you asked for specifics on what I'm using my equipment for. Right now, it's mainly to type and store text. I'm also printing things out regularly, stories and speeches. I use the disk drive and the TS-DOS capability to store most of that data in case I want to retrieve it and not have so many hard copies of things around. I do run some of the old game and gadget-type programs I've downloaded from the online library, but I've been frustrated that there are a lot of them I can't run because of the limited memory in my model 200. I remember reading something you put out some time back about there being a way around the memory shortage. If I can do that with the equipment I have now, I'd like to hear about it. I'm not in the position right now to buy an extra memory bank, and really don't think it would help since I'm assuming you can only access the memory from one bank at a time and that it's not cumulative. Thanks for whatever advice you can provide.
