I have been using my M102 for packet for several years. No problems were encounted. I set it up as 57E1E in the stats and away I go. I did find if I tried to communicate to the TNC faster than 1200B, I lost characters in incoming messages. The 40 col screen is somewhat of a disadvantage in listing messages from a BBS screen which is formatted for 80 cols, but you learn to adjust. It's very little problem in talking directly with another station and not much of a problem when reading BBS messages. One useful accessory is the DIRACC.BA program form the library. This lets you jump from Telecom directly to text so you can download a long message, then go read it and then you can jump to Basic and kill it if you want. The biggest drawback to the M100 is the lack of a large scrollback buffer--once something scrolls off the 16 line buffer, it's gone forever, unless you've been downloading to ram. If you're on packet now, you can contact me that way at: N9ADS @ KA9LCF.IN.USA.NA. Hope to hear from you.
