Subj: REPLY TO MSG #4531 (M100 BOOK ORDER)

----
Sorry to hear that you have not received your book, yet. Yes, I understand
that you sent a check and have not received the book. The message you left,
which prompted this thread, was to find the address stated in the earlier
thread. And no, unfortunately, I never got around to writing that letter but
maybe I should write something.

True, five bucks ain't much but still, a deal is a deal. And, for a guy like
Carl not to honor your check raises serious concerns about the possible
dynamics of his life. In fact, I see 10 things that might have happened.

So. here's my list of the top 10 things that might have happened to your book
order.

10) He didn't received the check but his secretary did. She immediately forged
his name, cashed it and had lunch at McDorkles all week. She asked me to say
thank you.

9) He received the check but he is so busy that it's sitting on his desk--now
under a pile of briefs--waiting for him to find it and remember what it was
for. Perhaps, it might even become evidence in a famous legal case.

8) He received the check, cashed it, then forgot to send the book.. silly him!

7) Carl is dead and his estate is in limbo... that's Limbo, MO... nice place
but not much going on around town, except to watch ducks land in the pond.

6) Aliens from outer space swooped down and took all the books, leaving Carl to
ponder the meaning of life, the universe and everything with his friend,
Douglas Adams.

5) He suddenly realized the true value of the book and is sending you a
new-deal contract.

4) He was just kidding. It's a scam, and he intends to skip town with the
loot, to live out his life in Brazil.

3) You actually did not send $5 and are just pulling our legs... nice joke!

2) Carl is personally signing every copy but for some unknown reason forgot his
name and is now in therapy. Doctors are hopeful for a full recovery by late
August.

And, lastly, the number one thing that could have happened to your book order
is...

1) He mailed it by US Mail book rate, so you will get it by December 2003.

David Letterman, eat your heart out!

Hope this helps... -Rick-
