Subj: REPLY TO MSG #221 (RS232/MODEM)

This could really prove interesting .  I know we have a limit through the
bar-code port of around 4 KHz. As for using the parallel port to feed an
external memory device, any code you write to send data to the printer is
'outing' it through the parallel port.  I'm just worried about how much "back
talk" (response TO the CPU) your external device might want to do.
  Also, is the MDL100 sending info to the TPDD (via RS-232) exactly as if it
were communicating to a modem or another machine??? ascII 8n1e?
