Thanks for the feedback, Irv. One of the reasons I use the US Mail Priority service has to do with the way mail delivery personnel must handle the mail. I'm not getting down on them. They do a lot of work. They have no idea what's in each envelop. They have a hand full of mail that must fit in your mailbox. They fold it, stuff it, and move on. On the flip side: Mail personnel are not suppost to bend the Priority envelops. Please go down to your post office and tell your postmaster. That person need to know, and will get the word out to the carriers. He also must report all complaints up the chain, which will come out to all postmasters. This is not a perfect system but if we are silent, it is less-perfect. When shipping 5.25" disks, I pack them between stiff cardboard, place it in more cardboard, then into a bubble pack, then into a priority pack. I usually write DO NOT BEND on the envelop. To your questions: > QUESTION - CAN "LAPDOS.BA" BE MADE INVISIBLE AND OPERATE IN THAT MODE. Hmmm... one of the best program utilities available is CHANGE.BA by Rick Perry (circa 1986). You will find it in the (4)Library in the (7)Utilities category. On the flip side: Why do you need it invisible? > QUESTION - FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE, WHY NOT INCLUDE THE CABLE FROM THE DOS MACHINE TO THE DISK DRIVE. I KNOW WE CAN GET IT BY RADIO SHACK BUT WHY ??? What cable? For Lapdos to work between the DOS computer and your TPDD/TPDD2 you need only the existing TPDD/TPDD2 cable and a simple port adaptor to mate the two, male connectors. I appreciate your comment about "a few dollars more": I will admit that my plan is not without flaws. I established the "way it is" back in early 1990 upon receiving the Traveling Softwre product line. I made judgement-calls at that time that remain in effect today ... and I knew it would be that way, given the fact that I committed to being around through the turn of the century. I needed to think things through as much as possible. Although I can not recall what I thought about the adaptor back in 1990, I can say right now that I would have had to consider providing 2 different adaptors, one for 25-pin COM ports and another for 9-pin COM ports ... and who says that everyone has a tpdd or tpdd2 ... most do not. That would be a waste of money for us all. Sure, I can make changes but now, with thousands of catalogs in the field (world wide), it is not easy to add a few dollars more to any of the pricing. For instance: That mailing I just did was a $15,000 risk!, and I am not even close to paying that back. Again, I appreciate your comments ... you know I do. And I'm sure it's almost impossible for you (and the others) to imagine the dynamics on my side. I will add, though, that that mailout may be the last membership-wide, mass mailing I will be able to afford through to the end of Club 100 on December 31st 2003 @ 11:59:59. Twenty years is enough, don't you think? (grin) At your service ... -Rick-
