Subj: QUESTIONS

Here are a few questions from a relative newcomer to computers and a brand new
member of the 100 Club.

1) I want to use my 102 as a portable WP; I'm not sure I understand or will
ever need any other applications. Is there any difference between the T-Word
program that comes with the ROM version of Sardine, and the T-Write program
that comes with Ultimate ROM II? If I buy UROM II, will the presence of its
other programs in my 102 in any way complicate use of my machine as a PWP, or
will I not even know the other stuff is there unless I want to try to use it?

2) After working out a draft for a book on my 102 at work, I paid a pro a
bundle to make a presentable final draft for submission to the publisher;
because my Scripsit program would not let me include italics, underlining, and
indentations for extended quotations, etc. She used Wordperfect with her IBM
PC, and gave me the two 3.5" discs, after printing out copies for me to mail.
Now I need to change a portion of the last chapter. If I purchase T-Write or
T-Word, it appears I will be able to prepare presentable manuscripts myself,
but will there be a way I can get 26,000 byte portions of the book text from
her discs over into my 102 RAM for reworking?

3) I am a person with moderate visual impairment and dyslexia. I ended up with
a 102 here at work, because of the recommendation of an agency which
specializes in technological answers for the needs of people with disabilities
known as The Living And Learning Resource Center (LLRC) of 601 Maple St here in
Lansing MI 48906 (1-800-833-1996) They are great folks. If any Club members
with disabilites have disability related technological questions, give them a
call. Ask for Donna Heiner or Bob Hill, and tell them Glenn Leavitt suggested
you get in touch.

4) The features that make the 102 usable for me are a) a small, uncluttered
screen with large print b) simplicity of operation, and c) portability. I've
been able to develop a few tricks, ranging from using stick-on Velcro to keep
track of the little port caps on the 102 and printer; to downloading and
printing out almost every telecom communication, so I have time to read, mull
over, re-read, and comprehend the content. Are there other club members who use
102's as an accomodation for special needs? I'd like to get to know you and
exchange ideas. endend end
