----
Ah yes, the old "extra carrage return" problem. All of onliners experience
this problem when capturing stuff in ASCII from online systems. First, a
discussion of the problem, then "the" solution... better then the one you, and
others use.

The problem:

You're into capturing stuff online, for reading for printing offline, you are
doing the right thing but run into spending a lot of time stripping unwanted
carrage returns from your .DO files before printing.

Where do these extra CR's come from? The extra carrage returns are inserted by
the host program based on your terminal width settings; so text displayed to
your screen looks correct. To minimise the number of CR's you could reset your
terminal width to maximum, usually 132 characters, but then text displays will
not wrap correctly.

The solution:

This is an old broblem for Model 100 and 102 users. A program called CR&CR.BA,
with its doc file, CR&CR.DO, is available in the Club 100 library's 1)Text
category. Simply run the .BA program to create a machine language program (.CO
file), then use the .CO file on your downloaded text files. CR&CR is fast and
efficient. You will wonder how yu ever leved without it--but at least, having
done the job the hard way, you will REALLY appreciate CR&CR.

At your service... -Rick-

PS: Library access required to access CR&CR and over 1000 other great Model
100, 102, 200 programming.
