Dear Lex,
  On the M100 it is possible to "write-protect" the extRAM.  You have to move
the blue wire that goes into pin 29 of the bus socket over to pin 40 on the bus
socket, at the far end of the row.  If you have the newest version of the
manual, that procedure is pictured inside the back cover.  If not, let me know
and I'll send it to you.  The extRAM is read/write memeory.  Normally the
extRAM is disabled sitting there in the option ROM socket.  But if write pulses
come along while the extRAM is being accessed, during ROM accesses, that is a
big problem.  Yours is the first report of that I've had regarding URII.
You've laid out the recipe for how to accomplish the crash very, very very
well, so I should be able to reproduce it, either with a stock URII or with an
extRAM image of one.
