Subj: REPLY TO MSG #4589 (BYTE QUESTION)
----- Sorry I didn't see your message sooner... the difference between subtracting 32678 from 62960 (by the way 62959 is the last byte in user RAM) and the bytes free message represents space above the files in user RAM reserved for the paste buffer, the buffer for viewing Basic programs in ASCII format and variable tables (I probably left something out). The space above 62595 is used for a multitude of system information that is constantly changing (ie. file directory, previous screen buffer, keyboard buffer, telcom buffer, address information for current processes, flags, vector tables, ect, ect, ect) and is known as system memory. Hope this helps, Robert
