Subj: REPLY TO MSG #5221 (PROBLEMS)
---- First off, welcome aboard, Mary Ann. It's always nice to meet fellow Model 100 users from far away places like ... Peoria, IL. So, how's the weather in Peoria? (grin) Let's see if I understand the question. Hummm... seems like you asked the same question, twice. No problem... here's what I decifer from your message: You say that your Model 100 can not generate the correct characters necessary to access your university server--assuming you are using yor Model 100, not something else. I also infer from your message that the characters you use generate consistant responses, i.e., p = x, 0 = 8, space = (. If this is true, this is a good sign. We like consistancy. I'm going to jump at a hypothesis involving missmatched terminal emulation and want you to test it out and report your findings back here. Assumption: I have the strange feeling that your university computer requires terminal emulation such as VT-100, IBM 3270, ADDS VP, WYSE 100, etc., vs. ASCII (Aka: TTY). Test: Ask your "hotline" folks to give you the phone number of a TTY node to their computer, or to set your account to TTY emulation. Then access their computer through that node--or normally if they can "tweek" your account--annotate your findings, and report back. -Rick-
