Subj: REPLY TO MSG #2600 (EXTRAM SOFTWARE UPDATE)
Dear Craig, The extRAM used to be a "competitor" of the NODE rampac, but now we have _bought out_ the rampac and will carry on producing it in addition to the extRAM. The two things are very different. The extRAM is an internal memory that can be used as either RAM or ROM. And the rampac is an external memory "ramdisk". Even before we took over the rampac, I had written software that allows you to store "images " of several of you ROMs on the rampac and load them *fast* into the extRAM for execution. By fast, I mean two seconds to change from one ROM to the next. Each ROM reserves 32K in the rampac, which is subtracted from the 256k total available in the rampac for ramdisk file storage. That ROM swapping software is N2X, and I guess it was that I was wondering if you had. But you'll have to have a rampac to make any use of it <g>! Tracy
