David,
For putting the M100 on a wake-sleep cycle, I have an SCR (Silicon Controlled
Rectifier, available from the "shack") in series with an external 6volt battery
or power adapter. The "gate" terminal of the SCR is connected to a two minute
resistor-capacitor timer. When the M100 executes a "POWEROFF,RESUME"
instruction, the SCR detects the drop in current and turns the M100 completely
off. After two minutes, the timer triggers the SCR and the M100 back on. It
grabs some data, tests the time for logging, and then goes back to sleep for
another two minutes. It does save a lot of battery power.
