Let me see if I understand... --- Problem #1: Your Model 100 did a cold start, you've probably never seen this before, and have no idea what to do. Solution: Recovering .DO files after a cold start is easy when you either have the cold start recovery program written down someplace (see (T)op menu (H)elpfiles), or have a TS-DOS ROM, or have one of the other programs available for recovering from cold starts. At least you know, now, what a cold start is ... and how it feels ... and that there "are" solutions. Information on this subject is covered in the forth-coming document entitled "Cold Start Recovery," one of the documents in THE SHOLE ENCHILADA series. I sent you an advertisement for this series on 9-21-94. --- Problem #2: You were attempting to download FLOPPY.CO, a machine language file, with a stock Model 100. The RICK.BA file is more-then-likely in ASCII; a .DO file, which would be the appropriate filetype on this service. Well ... I've got some bad news and some good news. The bad news is that a stock Model 100 may download in ASCII, only, through TELCOM. FLOPPY.CO is machine language. You would have either had to use a XMODEM program on your Model 100 that supports .CO file on-line transfers, or use your DOS computer with its xmodem protocal (or ymodem, or zmodem, or kermit) to download the file to your DOS computers disk, then use Lapdos II to copy this file to your Model 100. The RICK.BA file is downloadable, coming into your Model 100 as RICK.DO. You would then strip out the non-program information from the file, exit the .DO file, enter BASIC, key in LOAD"RICK.DO" ...hit <enter>, wait for the WAIT light to stop, key in SAVE"RICK.BA" ...hit <enter>, and <f8>, or MENU <enter> to return to the main menu wherein you would find both RICK.DO and RICK.BA, the runnable code. --- Perhaps I should call you about all this. It might be a bit more then you were expecting.
