The book
Has nothing to do with a PC (though I think I do mention a PC in a section of
it...)

As for "overkill," let me give you an example. I have a 486DX/33 that I
wrote most of the book on. I used a Windows 3.1 word processor and it did what
I wanted it to do without doing too much more. The one i was using (now
defunct) is JustWrite 2.0. I like it because it perfectly transposes WordStar
documents, which means I can go to DOS and work on something in VDE (neat
little PD program that is WS compatible) and then move it into Windows. I
don't really care for Windows, but there are times when it is needed. I prefer
to do most of my work in MS-DOS. Perhaps this is because I came from the days
of CP/M (and I still to this day have an Osborne 1, a Kaypro II, an Epson
Geneva PX-8, and (my personal favorite) a Kaypro 4/84).

My silly mother just bought a pentium with Windows 95. HATE IT! Can't do a
damn thing with it! Maybe it is not the hardware that is overkill, maybe I am
complaining about the software. I don't know. When an operating system gets
too complicated for someone with a genius level IQ to figure out, I think you
have overkill.

I have tried to convert her system to Windows 3.1, but Windows 95 keeps
interfering. (This is because, as you know, many programs look for support
files in the WINDOWS directory or the WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory. Since Windows
95 has them, I had to install Windows 3.1 in WIN31 directory. Didn't do too
well.)

If you have any ideas about how to do a successful conversion, I would love
to hear them. (Keeping in mind that it would be nice to keep Window 95 on
board in case she liked it better, which I doubt she would.)

As for what the book is about, it is basically "Everything you wanted to know
about Thomas but were afraid to ask. My life has NOT been typical. Maybe that
is why the book is doing well. Check it out of your local library. The name
is "Soon Will Come The Light," and the author's name is listed as "Thomas A.
McKean." If you search by author, make SURE you put the "A." in there because
there is another "Thomas McKean" who is out there writing children's books and
he is not me.
