Subj: REPLY TO MSG #7027 (PORTABLE 100)

I've read on this message base about the Portable 100 saga. Although Rick
advertised Club 100 on it, it appears that many subscribers had a poor time in
getting their copies of Portable 100. So Rick stopped advertising there, and I
think you can forget about anything new from Portable 100....

I'm a mathematician, programmer, and computer scientist--I use my Model 100 for
hobbyist use only. I am working on learning its internals; I had started
labelling the ROM entry points when a cold start ruined my work. (My backup
copy was also in RAM....)

Right now, I'm using the XR4 and RAMPAC as alternative backup media;
once I type in the utility routines that are printed in the XR4 user manual I
will be starting my task of disassembly again. I use the Cleuseau ROM for
assembly language capabilities.

I've tried a few programs from the Club 100 library; I liked the music programs
and the graphics programs. I plan on contributing some, myself.

You may find that the Model 100 is a good tool for you to use to keep your
patient notes in. There are utility routines in the Club 100 library, I think,
that will let you encrypt your data for privacy.

You can also transfer the data between your new Pentium and your Model T.
