Subj: REPLY TO MSG #6127 (SATURDAY MEETING)

Our Saturday get together is PCLD for the most part but we can also discuss
Model T stuff. The Sat's are not heavely attended so there's usually plenty of
time to chat.

I was not at this past Sat's get together. I was in Pleasanton all weekend for
the Goodguy's Autumn Get-Together. It was the last major hot rod event of the
year, and the last really big swap meet.

I am sure glad I went. I cleaned up but not in winning a stupid trophy or
anything like that. As many of you guys know, I scratch-build cars as a hobby.
I spend very little money since I scrounge, trade and beg for parts. This week
was a winner. I picked up tons of stuff for my 1931 Model A, 2 door woody hot
rod project, i.e. special delivery:

 - brand new Magnum 26" forged, 4" drop front tublar axle: $150

 - a full set of body hammers and dollies: $10

 - lots of Model "A" parts: FREE!!
        - hood 1929 Ford
        - front fender braces 1929 - 1931 Ford
        - fire-wall 1927 Ford
        - fully restored banjo rearend with juice brakes
        - pattern for a woody floorboard
        - lots of parts for trading and selling

 - an entire 1983 Buick Skylark: FREE!!
        - engin just had a valve job
        - V6 even fire for automatic

 - Sold my 1933 Flathead V8 for $100! It was given to me earlier this year.

I now have basically everything I need to complete the rolling, running chassis
with a full set of fenders, running boards, cowl, etc.

My next job is to go pick up all the parts, clean and organize them, then start
mounting the suspension followed by the power plant. All this will take a few
months of evenings and weekends to complete. I'm aiming at next Summer to be
on the road and the following Summer for paint and finish work. My goal in
this project is to build a "finished" custom car for under $1,000. I can do
it, too! In fact, if I do enough trading I might be able to have it for $0.00
... that's the ultimate goal for this project.

I know, you didn't ask where I was last Sat. I just thought I'd tell you. See
you soon. -Rick-
