Good question, Frank. Let's move this out into the open for group discussion.

Our monthly meetings are physical meetings. Although we do have a phone line
available in the room where we meet--Mary's Pizza Shack--it is used to
demonstrate the BBS to those interested. Thus, the meetings are actually not
online but real time, human chit chat. Furthermore, they are far from actual
meetings--more like a collection of impromptu discussions. Sometimes I tend to
dominate, but most times small groups of 2 or more involve themselves in
focused material. Most of the time we are eating and drinking something... and
believe it or not, the drinks are usually ice tea or cola. Yes, we also have
some beer around but not much is consummed. The pizza is very good; although
Melo's pizza was more Italian, Mary's pizza is quite good. We moved to Mary's
due to the opportunity of an actual meeting room where we geeks and nerds won't
upset the more normal trade.

I suppose we "could" set something up like a full-duplex, room speaker with a
party line type access, i.e., all who call in will automatically be in on the
same line--all voices merged. Maybe... actually, I'm not sure that would work.
It's worth exploring, though, and could be either interesting and worthwhile or
a roaring loser.
