Subj: REPLY TO MSG #1444 (EXPERIENCES)

I forwarded your message to me to Robert Benson for his feedback. I'm
absolutely sure he'll yell at you for using all caps in your message, first,
then "possibly" even solve some of your problem.

While we're all waiting in suspense for his assistance with XMDPW?? and DSKMGR
I noted something in your message that I can help with right now. When you
keyed in 49,999 and got the error message "extra ignored" that ment that the
comma you keyed in was not correct. Do not key in a comma within the number.
In fact, you will not see a comma listed in any of the numbers keyed in in any
of the programming in the library. When you key a comma in BASIC, BASIC thinks
you are entering 2 numeric strings, i.e., 49 and 999 in the above example. You
really wanted to key in 49999 but that's not what it's been programmed
understand when you key in the comma. Try again without the comma.

Should you be using the simple XMODEM program? Sure, it's a good one. SXM is
also a good telcom program. The reason we've got several different xmodem
using programming in the library hs to do with what's available. There are
many ways to approach each programming task. Each programmer looks at the
world a bit differently. The veriety helps other programmers see other ways,
processes, and tricks. I'm sure you'll pick up things as you proceed.

Good questions... keep working on it... you're doing well... -Rick-
