In response to your excellent questions ... worth public discusion:

 > ...can I get into the E-mail thing with this M-100?

The term E-Mail is general. We are exchanging e-mail right now. It's like the
term, Truck. A truck is a truck and they all drive the same way ... but there
are types of trucks.

Email Types

Local: Mail is posted and read on the computer used by those posting and
reading. Both the sender and receiver must log directly onto that computer to
process mail. The sender must know the name (address) of the receiver as
listed on that computer, i.e. my name on this service is RICHARD HANSON, on
Compuserve it's 102253,3102. In all cases, the receiver will not receive their
mail unless they log on (period) and use the same name each time.

Networked: Mail is posted on one computer to a person on another computer
accessed by the given network. Networks include: Internet, Fidonet, Timenet,
Telnet, GEnienet, etc. The sender must know not only the receivers name but
the name of the computer the receiver logs onto, i.e. I am accessable via
Internet as richard.hanson@pcld.com for The Dock! and
102253.3102@compuserve.com for compuserve. The @ sign separates the name of
the user and the name of the service.

Individuallized Email: A message is posted to a named person, either in a
private or public area. Private, individual mail may only be read by the
receiver and sender. Public, individual mail may be read by all readers in
that area based on their authorization. In both cases, only the sender,
receiver and system operator may delete the mail.

Public Email: A message is addressed to ALL in a public message area. Everyone
having authorization to that area may read messages posted to ALL. Messages to
ALL and public individual mail share the same open reading presentation but
only the sender and system operator may delete the message.

 > ...is it possible on this BBS for me to send over a file into "my own space"
for temp storage and later retrieval?

Yes. This is becoming a common question. Simply put, you use the private mail
area. Post a message to yourself and either upload your text directly into the
message editor and save it. Or make a small message, use the <F>ile option to
enclose a file, upload the file, then save the message ... which will save the
message with a pointer to its attached file. In either case, since you mailed
a message to yourself (you are both sender and receiver) only you and I may
read and delete the message, or message with file attached.

Yes. You may use this service or "temporary" personal information storage.

Do me a favor. If you do use this service for personal information storage,
please delete the message or message/file after retreiving it. I do monthly
clean up. All "private, reviewed" messages 30 days old are automatically
deleted. I will not be held responsible for maintaining your data. Said with
all due respect, of course. :)
