Hi, Rick,

Robert may already have answered your questions, but I'll throw down anyhow!
X-modem has two common error checking variations: Checksum (variously
abbreviated) and Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC). I have both. I've read that
CRC is more error-resistant and Checksum is quicker - I can't tell any
significant difference, but I use CRC anyway.

Over the years I've telecommunicated with everything from pre-XT IBMs to
computerized phototypesetters to the Model T, using many com packages and
transfer protocols. My favorite remains X-modem, because familiarity breeds
faster operation online than complicated "conveniences." And, may I say, I
HATE KERMIT! You know why it's free? Because THAT'S WHAT IT'S WORTH!!!

Sorry about that. Kermie just gets my dander up.
