Subj: REPLY TO MSG #5925 (UNDELETE -- COLD START RECOVERY)

It appears that your message got truncated. :( My idea was to have a backup
file directory to attempt to get more robustness while I practice ML
programming. I understand that the backup directory wouldn't be immune from
programming error. :) Cold start erases the file directory, and it may be
that there was no problem with the file directory, or many of the files. My
idea was to provide some chance of recoverying these non-text files [assuming
they haven't gotten munged]. Since most of the memory doesn't get cleared
during a cold boot, one could store the backup file directory contained within
the address space of the first BASIC program, which would be a parameter
depending upon memory size; I believe a simple PEEK would be all that would be
needed to determine where this space begins. :) Your idea of storing the
backup directory elsewhere may help keep it safe--I dunno. Certainly your
ideas on validation after or during the recovery process are EXCELLENT, as is
your idea for only saving the needed bytes for recovery. :)
