Very good question, David. I offer a brokerage service to those who desire a broker's invlovement. The service is simple in concept. Some buyers and sellers feel uneasy about distance transactions. In these cases they purchase the services of a 3rd party, i.e., the broker. The broker receives the goods from the seller, and the money from the buyer, then ships the goods to the buyer and the money to the seller. In this case, the broker does not confirm the condition of the goods, or the reality of the money. The broker is simply there to confirm that "something" moved from each side of the transaction to the other. In the generic example above, the broker may be called in by either party, and paid as agreed by the parties, i.e., by the buyer, or the seller, or split 50/50, etc. My brokerage fee is 20% of the selling amount and does not include shipping charges of goods. The most common service I perform involves sellers wanting me to take over the "promotion" of their goods. Of course they can sell their stuff by themselves, but, for various reasons, either don't want to be directly involved, or simply wish to benefit from the profile the broker provides, i.e., the broker's position in the marketplace. Again, the brokerage fee (aka: commission) is 20% of gross receipts. Is this the information you desire? -Rick-
