Hi, Earl.  I'm jumping in here to take some of Rick's burden....and he's
kicking a screaming 'cuz he doesn't want to let go.
   
Anyway...the SCHED and other programs on your machine are BURNED into the ROM.
Read Only Memory chip that also holds the TEXT editor, TELCOM program and BASIC
commands/program.  Can't touch that. The ROM is chisled in stone (silicon) and
take 32K of memory for the CPU.  The other 32K is RAM, used for text files,
BASIC programs you install, and housekeeping overhead (File directory, date,
Telcom setting, etc)
  
Again, even if you changed you ROM and didn't have those functions, it wouldn't
free up any memory for your (or the computer's) use. Sorry.  
  
RAM banks and disk managers are the only way to get around the CPU's (80C85)
limitation.
