A termcap entry is used by many Unix operating systems for the purpose of terminal control. If you use your Model 100 computer as a terminal on a Unix system, then having a termcap or terminfo that describes the escape sequences that are expected will allow you to use screen mode editors, and programs will be able to display INVERSE-VIDEO characters, if they want to, without having to have <ESC>p hardcoded in the program. :D
