Dear Robert,
  The remark token is ascii 142, the symbol that appears when you type graph-i
at the keyboard.  If you peek at the listing of a BASIC program in memory, you
will see the remark token as a symbol that looks like a little integral sign.  
       FORI=32768 to 33766:PRINTCHR$(PEEK(I));:NEXT
 The apostrophe remark comes across as colon,integral,block, that is to say, as
ascii 58, ascii 142, ascii 255.
