Michael,
The problem with the Mdl 100 trying to talk to a TDD is the baud rate (45, 50,
110 at the TDD end) The Mdl 100 is limited to 300 baud. There's also the
problem of the 5-bit baudot code that the TDD and TTYs use. The Mdl 100 is
definitely unsuited, even though it can do 5-bit ascII. (tradgically, totally
different animals).

Robt was right about the ADA inducing local telco's to provide TDD's free of
charge, _IF_ the receptor has doctor's (not audiologist) written statement of
qualification. As for the church recieving a TDD on the plan, they have to
prove they have a "clientel" of at least 10% HOH needing the service.

Again, tell me your location. DCARA in San Leandro often has
refurbished/used TDD's. Also, there is a TDD refurbisher in San Mateo (CA) and
Krown Inc in lower California.

I don't ever recall seeing TTDs in pawn shops or thrift store, but I never
looked before.

There are DOS programs to trick your PC into talking TDD/baudot if your model
can drop down low enough.
Sorry this isn't the info you wanted. Let's keep talking. Maybe we can work
something out.
