And thank you for the order. That's the way it works around here. Make sure
you're out of Deskmate before running Lapdos II. I don't think it will work
with Deskmate lurking in the background.

Getting Lapdos II going is really no big deal. Let's assume your COM1 port is
free and clear. Connect the cable to COM1 and your laptop. Place the Lapdos
II distribution disk into your DOS computer's drive, get onto that drive, and
issue the command GO <enter>.

You'll be presented with a menu--I wrote that menu. Select item 1 and follow
the prompts. If you're successful, you'll have loaded the TPDD-emmulator into
your laptop and it will be running. Leave it running... don't <shift><break>.
You'll be back at the menu. Select item 2 and that's it!! Have fun...

Yeah, I know all about spending hours dinking around with the computer until
all hours in the morning. I even recall shortly after Paula and I were
married--over 19 years ago--when I was working on the computer my office late
one evening. She comes in and really lets me have it about spending more time
with the computer then with her. The next day I moved the computer into the
family room. I've had at least one computer in the family room ever since.
She doesn't mind me working on the computers now. At least she can see and
talk to me. It's a bonding thing.

Today, Paula and I have 5 DOS computers, and several laptops, two fax boards,
highspeed modems, and ten phone lines--with only two phone lines NOT going into
a computer for faxs, bbs, or voice mail.

Paula's DOS computer is a 386/33 VGA and Window's in the family room. She also
uses a Model 200. At work she uses a DEC system under RX11 running a specially
built dental program called Modi; it was written in FORTRAN. She can access
Modi from here at home, as well--and does from time to time. I'm still the
geek around here, though. Paula just uses what I set up but she's good at it.

Figuring you'll probably show this e-mail to your better half, let me add that
Paula and I get away from our computers on a regular basis and actually have a
life. Her hobby is training dogs for obediance--winning all sorts of
events--and hearding... mainly sheep. We have a Border Collie named Curby, and
an Australian Shephard named Susie. Paula is one of Judy Howard's top
trainers. Judy is nationally famous and lives and works out of Moraga.

My hobby is hot rods and customs. I build'em and drive'em. My lastest is a 23
Ford Model T modified powered by a 3/4 race 1950 Ford flathead V8. It'll kick
more butt then I've got! And, when the sun's shining, it's my daily driver.
Otherwise, I drive a lowered 1990 Toyota wagon, with Moon caps, very wide
radials, blacked out windows, nosed and decked, and stripped.

See... there is "normal" life after computing... :) -Rick-
