Subj: REPLY TO MSG #2746 (TS-DOS ROM)

You're welcome, I was justifiably pleased when I discovered the 'hidden' rom
call, it would come in very handy in some instances. I got into the habit of
disassembling programs with games on my C128, a lot of programmers will put in
little routines to allow them to see the higher levels of games, or short-cut
around certain obstacles, without the frustration of trial and error. Before I
played the game 'Hacker' for the first time, I already mhad all the passwords,
due to a careful disk scan with a sector editor searching for ascii strings.
I've lately embarked on a new project, disassembling all 3 of the 32k ROMs
in my NEC 8500 laptop, I've already gotten past the first 'block', I discovered
the I/O port that controls the ROM/RAM banking, and used a small M/L routine to
transfer the ROM contents to ram, where I can save them to a file, transfer to
my desktop via RS232 cable, and have begun creating a break table for my Z80
disassembler to use when creating a psuedo 'source' file for the roms.

Sounds fun, don't it!? Tim Mihulka
