Subj: REPLY TO MSG #4937 (DISK CLEANING KITS)
---- Paul: I am not certain that you need to clean your TPDD or TPDD2 drive heads; especially since the mid-1980s. I don't clean mine, these days. But, if I did clean them--like I did with the old disk drives back in the 1970s when media flaked--I would not use a cleaning disk. Instead, use a lint-less swab and isopropyl alcohol. This is the same stuff you use to clean the heads on your VCR. It's chemical composition is CH3CHOHCH3. It's used chiefly in the manufacture of antifreeze and rubbing alcohol--but don't use either antifreeze or rubbing alcohol to clean your drive heads, please. Hope this helps... -Rick-
