I've pulled up many threads on Joseph's enviable "coat of many colors" or as
modernists and Liberals would have it "long sleaved" It is probable that the
word refers to the cut and style however it is not without reason that the KJV,
Latin, and German have varigated color as a primary reading. Philo Judaeus
insists on the colors. Two parallel passages of desirable coats probably refer
to a similar garment probably with astronomical or cosmological motifs Your
basic Astrologers robe: Joshua 7:21 has Achan taking as war spoil "a goodly
Babylonish garment" The Song of Deborah has Siser's delay speculatively
attributed to dividing the spoil "to Sisera a prey of divers colors, a prey of
divers colors of needlework on both sides, meet for the necks of them that take
the spoil. Judges 5:20. }iProbably these are all one piece not easily divisible
robes either seemless or so cunningly fabricated that it would be a shame to
spoil them in the looting!
