Subj: REPLY TO MSG #6591 (WE'RE BACK!)
Thanks for the "welcome back" Paul. It's a good feeling to have the Club 100 BBS back online. Man, was I getting the email over this thing! The problems of finding another spot for The Dock BBS is still lurking in the back ground, however. Both BBSs are housed at this location, working on a split hunting group, i.e. 2 lines for Club 100 BBS and 2 lines for The Dock BBS. The reason... Seems the new site we selected has no line capasity left available. We thought that lines were available cause there were unused lines in the box in the office suite. We came found out that the building is maxed out and not slated for more lines for quite some time, i.e. those lines we saw went no where! We're meeting with an engineer from Pac Bell, Tuesday morning. In any case, I must push forward with all the projects with little to no help in either business (hobby?!). The good news is that I am getting caught up with the various piles of stuff, and trying my best not to take on any more projects. It can be done! To your modem question: You are not the first to comment about 28.8 modem operations. I've received comments about both BBSes and 28.8 modems. I don't understand all that has changed but can extrapolate that it all has to do with the built-in compressions, etc. May I recommend that you study your init string and pre-set your modem with all extras turned off before coming online to the Club 100 BBS. I assure you, I have changed nothing on this end. The modems are the same. The lines are the same. The init string used to set the host modems is unchanged. All I did was unplug the phone lines from the Club 100 BBS modems and plug them into The Dock BBS modems. The switch back was the same ... unplug ... plug! In fact, the Club 100 BBS remained in operation all the time, even though no one was using it. Hope this helps. -Rick-
