So Rick, There's no elegant way of getting around the 32K limit, other than XOS or something like that? I guess it's because the 8085 only has a 16 bit bus and half of that is ROM. Oh well. I'm looking for ways of slowly storing lots of data using a 100-family machine (a T200). One way is to leave the machine running, and save data to floppy often enough that it doesn't run out of memory, purge the data file, and restart. This is fine, except you have to go out and "milk" the machine periodically. So here's an idea: has anyone tried using the on/off tape controls to turn on/off a TPDD to store data, then turn off the drive to save batteries? You'd have to put in some wait loops to let the drive wake up and collect it's wits, and ...er... hack the power switch in the drive, but can anyone think of a reason it positively won't work? Granted, this isn't a solution for most users, but curious minds want to know.
