---- Burton: I just read Robert's message to you and your response and just wanted to add my 2 cents. I personally have used many telcom, different programs on many, different computers to grunt-out file transfers between a Model 100 and the other computer. They are all a bit different but all do work via an ASCII transfer. Back in the old days (circa 1983), using MODEM.CMD on a TRS-80 Model III to my "new" Model 100, I used to transfer BASIC code in ASCII directly into BASIC at 600 baud--I found this to be a dependable speed--via the command: LOAD"COM:48N1E" Files came directly into the Model 100's BASIC interperter very nicely--tokenizing as they came in. I also found that transfering files from the Model 100 to the desktop a bit more tricky. Indeed, the Model 100 needs to push it's code without CR's or right hand margins, and the desktop needs to be told not to truncate incoming strings. Again, each telcom program handled this a bit differently. Bottom line: With a few hours of playing around you can pretty well find workable solutions. In 1985 I was asked by Traveling Software to be a beta tester on a new program they were developing that would ease the file transfer/translation routine between a Model 100 and a DOS computer. That program, call Lapdos, later upgraded to Lapdos II, not only did the trick but made Traveling Software #1 on the hit parade. I use Lapdos II just about every day cause I use my Model 102 constantly in the field and DOS computers here in the Club 100 computer lab to finish off my field work. I highly recommend Lapdos II over any other means available to move all file types, .DO, .BA, and .CO between Model 100, 102, 200 and NEC8201 computer and all DOS machines, or between a TPDD or TPDD2 and all DOS machines. Lapdos II "is" the best method for doing what you are doing. Again, I just had to jump in and add my 2 cents to your conversation with Robert. And, if other Lapdos II owners read this thread perhaps they will add their 2 cents as well. -Rick-
