As you know, the internal modem of the Model 100 goes at 300 *ahem* baud. In the Library, you have FSTMDM.BA and FSTMDM.DO, which document how to force the modem to go 450 and even 600 baud. *cough* If you have a copy of Portable 100, Vol 5, No 9, October 1988, you will be able to read the excellent article by... Bob Scott. This article includes information not currently included in the .DO file. I think this additional info would make a great technical tip. :-) In particular, the fact that grounding the "Rx Rate" (pin 6) of the 81C55 programmable I/O chip (M25) optimizes it for 600 baud (as opposed to the 300 baud optimization for holding the pin at Vcc) is good to know. The project idea of tying the output of an unused output port (e.g. M16 pin 14 for port 90-9F) so that one could programmatically control this chip seems to be of merit. :-) Know anybody who's done these mods? (Of course, having a 600 baud modem is not very useful, unless you have ANOTHER 600 baud modem. ;o)
