Subj: REPLY TO MSG #6396 (ROM SOCKET)

Welcome aboard, Pete. Allow me to address your question, i.e. you've come to
the source of all Model "T" questions and concerns.

 > I am trying to find out what type of eprom the rom socket will handle on the
Model 100. I have a programmer on my pc and would like to turn my 100 into a
different machine. Do you have any idea.

Do "I" have any idea? Ahmm... yeah... I think so! :)

Model 100, 102 and 200s all have an option ROM socket. Unfortunately, although
they all use the 27C256 100ns or 150ns EPROM (non-intel), the option ROM socket
is not wired one for one. But, many yers ago, my good friend and fellow Model
"T" user, Tracy Allen, Pres. EME Systems, Berkeley, CA, developed the ROMBO
carrier. A burned EPROM, inserted into a ROMBO carrier, using Scotch tape, and
inserted into the option ROM of a Model "T" allows the wiring of the optin ROM
socket to match the pin-out of the EPROM. Result: Da'programme be a run'n,
dude!

Here's the process...

1) Get some 27C256 EPROMS

2) Get some ROMBOs: EME Systems, 510-848-5725 office phone

3) Get some programming and info about burning ROMs: See (6)TechRef (E)ME
Systems and (D)ownload

4) Make an Intel HEX file from your intended program.

5) Burn your EPROM, "tape it" into a ROMBO, and insert it into your Model 100.

6) Go into BASIC and do a CALL 63012 <enter>

 > I have been all over the web and cannot find anything that gives me the
right info.

Dah! What did you expect from Internet Bigots?! If it looks like horse-stuff,
and feels like horse-stuff, and tastes like horse-stuff, thank your lucky stars
you don't step in it! :) Of course I have no idea what this means or how it
relates to the subject ... I just felt like saying it this morning.

Hey, no problem buddy. It's always good to meet, yet another Model "T" user.

FYI: Thank you for your "Internet" email address. I'm leaving this message to
you using your Club 100 BBS e-mail address. The Club 100 BBS is not directly
or remotely connected to the Internut in any way whatsoever. E-mail left here
will be responded to here so that questions and answers will accumulate into a
wealth-of-knowledge base for the benefit of all. Which means ... go capture
the messages in the (1)Conference ... lots of good stuff therein.

At your service ... -Rick-
