Sparcom sells a serial disk drive that reads and writes MS-DOS format 720k and 1.44mb floppies. The drive is sold to connect to the HP palmtops, like the HP100LX, which have only a serial port, that's all, to do I/O. The folks at Sparcom told me once that they would be very willing to provide all the programming info, that is, the commands that have to be sent over the serial line to access the drive. It would probably be a feasible task to write a driver similar to one of the TPDD drivers to use with the Sparcom drive, but given the current model 'T market, no-one wants to undertake it commercially. The drive itself sells for about $300-$400. How about it? That, or the old Mac serial drive?
