Ok, finally got some time to play with LapDosII and I have a few questions.
(1) I had a bitchin' time getting LOADER to work. Mind you, I built up a cable
per the info on the LapDos disk (I'm running a Zenith 8088 laptop). The only
way I could get LOADER to do its thing was by changing the statement on page
two of the manual (number 3.) from RUN"COM:88N1ENN to RUN"COM:88N1E. The
lapdos program then appeared to work, but every time I select LAPDOS.BA on the
102 I get FC ERROR IN 0, and then the LAPDOS screen appears. Sounds like
everything didn't get transferred from the LAPDOS disk. (2) Why is the speed
set at 9600 baud rather than 19200 baud? IE: 88N1E rather than 98N1E? (3)
What are the last two NN for in the Com port set up? Are they necessary? I
got the suggested adapter from R.S. and the disk drive works great from the DOS
machine. That really helps a lot. Wish I would have understood LapDos better,
sooner. I might add a bit of constructive criticism Richard...most people scan
the ads and pick up what they think is what they read. Most of you ads have a
lot of words, but don't really get the meat of what the device does, across. I
still have many questions on the XR4 that none of the ads seem to answer. /
Meanwhile I'm ecstatic with LapDos and now, more than ever, would like some
additional info on the XR4.
