Most of the academics I know use internet heavily, for usegroups, not for shopping, and hardly any of them earn anything near $63k per year. They just have free unlimited high-speed net access from campus. The engineers I know, who have paying (grin) jobs at big sillycon valleys Incs. do make that kind of money, and they do use internet (from work, free high-speed access again) for e-mail exchange with customers, and distribution of company info via www, and to grab data sheets etc from other companies. I know a few HS teachers, librarians, and public employees who are on line, but... For the most part the people I talk to, have not the slightest idea how to get on line, even though they might talk about it, either wistfully or cuttingly. Bam bam. Hi ho. Its off to work I go. We're back from vacation now, and I have a heap, a stack, of email and snail mail to go through, faxes to answer, aiieee. No, I didn't keep in touch during my vacation, although, yes, I did take an HP95 along. Noput?
