Barry: I assure you that .DO files created by TEXT, if you stick to just the
keyboard characters, are indeed ASCII.  ASCII characters are all 8 bit low
characters from 00 to 127.  If you use your GRPH or CODE key you create 8 bit
high characters from 128 to 255.  These later characters are not defined by
ANSI and thus are not consider within the ASCII character set.  Again, your .DO
files are ASCII.
 
In reading your question, perhaps your problem is a procedural one, not
technical.  Please explain, exactly, what you do and what happens.  I,
personally, am not on CIS but many others in this club, and readers of the
(1)Conference, are on CIS and might jump in to this message thread.  I'll do
what I can to assist.  -Rick-
