Subj: HOW ABOUT A DATE?

Tracy: I've been playing with simple little BASIC things for our novice users
(see Newsletter: LapTopTip's). I wrote a simple one line program to reset the
year part of the date, for use by those using TELCOM--you'll remember that
TELCOM sets the year in the date back one year each time you use TELCOM.
Actually, I borrowed the code when no one was looking.

1 DATE$=LEFT$(DATE$,6)+"91":MENU

It's a simple little diddy but it got me thinking about the Model 100 in the
year 2000. As you know, due to a bug in the system ROM, the date can not be
set to the year 2000; 1999 yes, but not 2000. I was just wondering where the
four byte year was stored in RAM and whether a PEEK routine could be used to
set it to 2000 and beyond. And, if the date can be set to 2000, then what will
happen when the year changes to 2001? I'm throwing this out to you since
you've probably already played in this area before. I'm sure others may want
to jump into this discussion as well.

Thanks... -Rick-
