Subj: REPLY TO MSG #4369 (PCLD)

James: Yes, Drew and I noted that you had logged onto Port Chicago's Loading
Dock. PCLD hosts ANSI screen controls and IBM 8-bit high graphic characters
for color graphics terminal displays. In other words, all those [27][128] etc.
codes coming all over the place on your screen are screen control codes used to
turn on colors at various locations, and place characters and graphics at
various locations on your terminal screen.

PCLD caters to 80 char 24 line screens. If you log on using a MS-DOS computer
or Mac using IBM-ANSI emmulation then the world we present will knock your
socks off. If you don't, then all hell breaks loose--unless of course you turn
your ANSI and IBM graphics off via the <S>ettings menu, or respond with NO to
ANSI and NO to IBM graphics during the initial, new user log on.

We took a stand, i.e., 80 chr by 24 lines, ANSI controls with IBM graphics.
Period!! We "do" expect some folks to complain. That's normal. Most callers
will get the correct display because most callers will have the correct
platform.

When I return from my hot rod club meeting this morning, I will log onto PCLD
and modify your userlog entry, turning off both ANSI and graphics. You will
get normal menus the next time you log on. Of course, you can always change it
back and be dazelled, should you choose to use the correct terminal display
emmulation on a MS-DOS computer or Mac.

Thanks for asking... -Rick-
