Cliff:
Lapdos II will, indeed, transfer Multiplan spreadsheet (.CO) files to
and from your Model 200 and your 1400. Nothing will be added or lost during
transfer in either direction. Lapdos II is the tool all Model 100/102/200 and
DOS users should own. It gives you more opportunity to mix and match your
computing tools.
It's been quite a while since I used Multiplan on a DOS machine.
Multiplan works nice for our laptops. My only question has to do with file
format. If I had Multiplan for my DOS machine I could better answer whether
Multiplan spreadsheets producted on a laptop are consistant with those created
under Multiplan on the DOS machine. My first impression, knowing Microsoft,
would be yes, if you had the older Multiplan/DOS program. However, if you are
using Lotus 1-2-3, Quattro, SuperCalc, VisiCalc, Excel, et all, then you will
probably need to do a file conversion. Multiplan, fortunately, has a built in
conversion utility called SYLK (SYmbolic LinK) format, used for sharing
information between application tools.
Lapdos II may be ordered online in the (5)Catalog area via your credit
card, or by voice during office hours on weekdays, or by FAX, or mail, or
carrier pigon (grin). When ordering Lapdos II, please state DOS disk format
5.25" or 3.5". Lapdos II requires a "special" null-modem cable. We build the
right type but you may build the right type as well. Included on the Lapdos II
distribution disk is are pin-out diagrams for 25-25 and 25-9 pin cables. If
you choose to buy one of our cables, please state whether you need a 25 or 9
pin connector for the COM1 or COM2 port on the back of your DOS machine. These
are also know as serial ports or RS232C ports. I believe your 1400 uses a 9
pin port as its COM1.
        Lapdos II $39.95 + $3 s&h - comes with disk and manual
        Computer<-->Link Cable $17.50 + $3 s&h - 25-25 or 25-9
Calif res add 8.25% tax, none for out of CA buyers

Hope this helps... -Rick-
