Okay, since you asked -- Suppose one customer buys a ROM, and you include a
disk as a convenience. And suppose a second customer buys a disk now and later
upgrades to a ROM. In both cases you have to manufacture a ROM and a disk. In
the second case you must ship two packages instead of one. So the second
customer's total payments should exceed the first customer's single payment by
the extra shipping cost. To make this work out, the minimum upgrade price
should be $49.95 minus $39.95 plus the extra shipping, or $13.00. And if you
want to encourage people to buy both versions in the first place rather than
upgrading later, then you raise that figure accordingly.
