Subj: REPLY TO MSG #4978 (TRANSFERING ASCII FILES)

----
Paul: I understand the problem. The odd word spacing has nothing to do with
your file transfer method, or the Model 100's TEXT program. It has absolutely
everything to do with WordPerfect's ASCII import method--and WP is not the only
one that does this. If you count the bytes, there "is" a regularity to the
problem. I suspose it has to do with logical file length algorythms.

I use a wide variety of word processing programs and round here--let's just
say, more then one. In all cases, I run a spell check on the file after
importing. That usually exposes the word-splits.

As to your comment . . . and on a lighter side . . .

 > It's a pain to have to go into the file and eliminate the extra spaces.

. . . let me point out that "at least" finding extra spaces is a whole lot
better then having to rewrite the text.

Get this: I got a call from a journalist the other day. He uses a Model 100
and a DOS computer. No one has ever exposed him to the "fact" that a file can
be transferred and converted. He reads off the Model 100 screen and keys the
file into his DOS word processing program. Guess what I sold him? That's
right... Lapdos II.

Should you have Lapdos? Maybe. Of course I would like the sale but putting
that aside let's make a list of benefits:

 * transfer "a file" with two keystrokes (C)opy <enter>
 * transfer "all files" with two keystrokes (W)ildcopy <enter>
 * transfer rate 19200 baud
 * transfer "all file types" i.e. .DO .BA .CO
 * transfer files to and from your TPDD2

I'll stop here and finish up with . . . still just $39.95, sir!!

And remember, your purchase supports many fine organizations such as:

 * my wife
 * her dogs
 * the state of California
 * the City of Pleasant Hill
 * Ann's Sunshine Cafe
 * Melo's Pizza
 * various hot rod and speed shops nation wide
 * Budweiser, Coors and others
 * Bill and the D.C. gang

Thanks for asking... -Rick-
