Subj: REPLY TO MSG #2325 (M-100 COMM TRS80 4P)

If you're talking about communicating via RS232 ports generally all you need is
to make sure both computers' comm parameters (word length, parity, flow
control, etc.) are compatible and set the same. Of course, both have to
support some kind of file transfer protocol, even if it's a "primitive" one.
Unfortunately I don't know a thing about the TRS80 desktop PCs, but
computer-to-computer transfers usually require, at least, swapping pins 2 and
3; pins 4, 5, 6 and sometimes 20, 7, 8 or others can be affected, but it
depends on whether you've got a 25- or 9-pin port, and also on what kind of
mood the hardware designer was in! Welcome to the mysterious world of serial
communications! <Lex>
