Subj: REPLY TO MSG #6889 (BIG THANKS)

I was going to pay you with my next order, but now I guess I don't have to
send one!! ;) Thanks for forgiving the debt, but I'll send it anyway to start
a special fund to buy a faster modem for the Club 100 BBS (and maybe a new UART
chip to go with it, and new software...).
I've been downloading the conference messages into a new computer, which
took hours: in the vernacular, 2400 bps really sucks!! At any speed, it would
be better to download in sections with Z-Modem rather than ASCII, although I
was pleasantly suprised at how uncorrupted it seemed: does your modem have
error correction (MNP1-4 or V.42)?
Downloading 4.5 MB at 2400 bps is a sizable investment in phone charges,
even at $0.10 a minute, but now I can search off-line and read at leisure this
goldmine of Kyocera info. (Where else could you find, e.g., the location of
the lowest installed RAM address?) You could put it into a book, or at least
package the threads in info files after trimming away the personal and other
non-computer stuff (like this thread) and most of the duplication. (You
demonstrated an amazing patience in answering at length the same basic
questions over and over!)
Conference message #1 is dated 05-12-91; was there no conference section
before then or did you have a disk crash or just run out of space? Do previous
messages still exist in any form?
Sorry I screwed up my last (and first!) message by not referencing the
original message # (breaking the thread) and by duplicating the header; fix it
if you get a chance.

   Jim
