Subj: BOOSTER PAK BLUES

I recently
Received my Booster Pak in the mail... Wow! What an ingenius device!
Turns the M-100 into a SUPER M-100! I like the new (and much improved)
operating system, the macro processing is really kewl and best of all we have
a KILL function key now! YAY!

But still I seem to be having a problem? I don't know? Let me see if I can
explain. Try to follow, this is difficult:

I start with a virgin 32k M-100. This has 29638 bytes free. All well and
good. Then I go to BASIC and do this, as per directions:

OUT 5,0 CALL 911

Here is what I see:

***** RAMdisk Directory BAD *****
Do you want to FORMAT RAMdisk (Y/N)?

Fine, I put "Y" so my RAMdisk will be formatted.

NOW ... I am in the Booster Pak (v1.23) with my ASTRO and my X-TEL and I
have 419840 bytes free. My Workspace has 29382 bytes free. So far, so good,
yes? No?

Next, as an experiment, I move the ASTRO files to a directory and the X-TEL
files to another directory. According to the docs, this should NOT be a
problem...

Now with the addition of the two subdirectories, I am down to 417792 bytes.

HERE is the problem. If I turn the machine OFF and then come back to it
later (this is normally done, yes?), then everything CHANGES the second it is
back on?

The screen gets garbled and I have like 221273 bytes free, or something like
that. Software won't load and then if I try to fix it...

RAMdisk Directory BAD Do you want to FORMAT RAMdisk?

At this point, my only thought is that one (maybe more?) of the 32k chips is
bad? I don't know? Something is NOT right here...

                                                 stc

I had the thought as I was uploading this that the problem MIGHT be in the
M-100 itself? How can I tell what is wrong? And how do I fix?
