Actually, that's not a bad way to fly.  I, too, open the old shareware catalog
before breaking out the code books.  There really are some very, very talented
folks in the world, huh?  I like the shareware concept.  It works for me, as
well.
 
My point in learning BASIC is not to become a programmer but to be able to
modify BASIC code, or fix problems, or at the very least, be closer to your
computer.  The Model T's are so easy to be close to that for me to ignore BASIC
from discussions and proding would be to deny someone the opportunity to
experience something of great value in personal computing, i.e., the "feel" of
direct control over the machine.  -Rick-
