no i am not spiting those who choose to type all upper case- the truth is i am fantastically lazy. But for you, who has taken the time to answer my lame, novice queries, I will attempt to impose my technical writing skills correctly upon this board. Mind you, I promise nothing so high-minded as perfection, but in the immortal words of Fidel Castro, "I will do my utmost". Yes, that is a super price on those disk drives but then I would nearly be current with the technological advances and advantages of the 90's and I'm not sure if I'm ready for all of that. And besides, in the immortal words of Roy Clark (and I'm no big fan of either country music (Clark), or fascism (Castro)), if they were selling riverboats down on the river for for a quarter apiece, all I could do is run up and down the bank, shouting "Ain't that cheap!, ain't that cheap!"-- and I'm no big fan of quotes, either. And finally, since I'm here, and youhave been most generous by sharing your knowledge with me, just how much better is the TPDD2 over the TPDD, and how easy is it to find either one used? I lied to you; I wasn't finished bothering you because I nearly forgot to thank you for informing of my gross oversight in clearing the memory. Before, I had tried something like that, but not exactly that, and had abandoned the idea until I read this David Lien book I have. And you are entirely correct on the procedure for clearing the memory. OK, now that I have stroked you a little, I may as well ask another question. I have seen memory banks up to 640k for the Tandy 200, and I was wondering why the machine isn't more capable than it is. That is, I think I read in Richard's catalog that the Tandy portable isn't designed for that kind of power. Also, if the Tandy 200 is capable of using 640k, why not more, and is there any way of installing a version of DOS in ROM to make it completely or approximately IBM compatible- and, if your answer is to check out the disk drive and the capability of transferring files to an IBM compatible, I should warn you that all I have is an IBM PCjr. with 256k to work with and I am not completely impressed with it. WHEW! I think that's all! Thanks, again, I'll be in touch!
