Greg,
Just go into TEXT at your menu screen, hit enter, give it the name of your
new file (FILE2.DO).

Hit F8 and go back to your menu screen. Now go into your file with the
template/boilerplate you like. Hit F7, CONTROL w/ down arrow, F5 (save a copy
of the entire text file to the paste buffer).

Hit F8, back to your menu, and into your new file (FILE2.DO). Now hit the
"PASTE" key and you have 2 files, identical but under different names.

No you can fill in or edit your new file and never damage you original
template. Of course, if you have tape or disk, you can load your template into
the machine under any (and as many) names as you please.

If this doesn't help, then I must have mis-read your problem.
