Hi Bill ... welcome back ... I remember you well! You used to live in Los Gatos. Now you're in Mountain View. Say, thanks for the support. It's greatly received. I understand your concerns. The Model 102 is still the best traveling computer around; for all those simple, obvious reasons. And, since you have both a RAMPAC and a TPDD2 (...that's what my notes from Sept 8th, 1992 read) and a DOS computer (Windoze 95) you have many options. However, I'm not sure what you mean by that free-ware program using the printer port. Whatever ... doesn't matter. You have options. In the (7)Uploads area you will find the following two files. You may download them but, if you can wait a few days, they will come in the mail on a disk along with your library access dues receipt ... as a thank you ... hey, it's just a diskette ... I can spare a moment for a friend. I'm suggesting the first one cause our old, tried and true Lapdos II will give you fits under Windoze 95. DeskLink should not. Staff member, Ron Wiesen, Cocoa FL, tested it out on a Pentium under W95 and gave it good marks. The second program is the old, never-say-die, Procomm Plus v2.0. Install it, then use the host mode, and your Model 102 should be able to log into your home computer bbs at 300 baud ... no problemo! ... from any phone in the world. It's a slick and simple way to fly. Here's another idea: Pick up an old XT, or better yet, and older 386 16 or 33 (keep it slow) with a small harddrive, a 3.5" floppy (720 or 1.44 doesn't matter), and mono monitor. Put an old modem on COM2 and use COM1 for DeskLink, or Lapdos II (see catalog ... great for TPDD2 to DOS file transfers) and thus dedicate it as a Model "T" communications machine. Under Procomm Plus v2.0 you have an instant bbs for yourself and friends ... with full protection. And, as a direct-connect, go-between for your Model 102 it's a natural. Thanks again for your support. It's great to hear from you again. Welcome home. -Rick- -- DL-ARC.EXE 36193 BoosterLink (aka DeskLink) (04-14-96) It's about time I just gave you guys this program. Download this self deARCing program, place it in a subdirectory named C:\ROOT, and run it. Once deARCed, you will have direct access to your DOS computers drives from your 100, 102, 200 or NEC8201A. You will need, however, either a tpdd or tpdd2 DOS or URII or Sardine ROM to access the running DeskLink program. PCP2-ARC.EXE 509506 Procomm Plus v2.0 (Complete!) (02-04-96) Many of you have wanted to run a simple BBS at home for our own use. I can't think of an easier way then using Procomm Plus v2.0 in host mode. Try it.
