Sorry I didn't see your message sooner... the difference between subtracting
32678 from 62960 (by the way 62959 is the last byte in user RAM) and the bytes
free message represents space above the files in user RAM reserved for the
paste buffer, the buffer for viewing Basic programs in ASCII format and
variable tables (I probably left something out).  The space above 62595 is used
for a multitude of system information that is constantly changing (ie. file
directory, previous screen buffer, keyboard buffer, telcom buffer, address
information for current processes, flags, vector tables, ect, ect, ect) and is
known as system memory.
