Subj: REPLY TO MSG #2777 (CABLE FOR DVI)

John: The DVI cable is a real pain in the donkey. Informed sources state that
all the pins are crossed, i.e., Pin 1 to pin 2, pin 2 to pin 1, pin 3 to pin 4,
pint 4 to pin 3, etc. If this was not so, then making cables for the DVI would
be a "snap". Tandy charges $70 for a cable--and they should; for all the work
involved. This conversation, however, does not solve you problem. You need a
Model 100 to DVI cable. If you are willing to take the time and cross the
wires, you can build your own cable. The parts are available at almost any
electronic shop in your area. Start by mapping your existing cable to confirm
the pin out. Use a simple OHM meter to check each line. Draw a diagram of
your findings. Next, buy the parts (i.e., a lingth of 40 pin ribbon cable, and
the appropriate connectors), then simply attach everything. That's it...
