Thanks for the question about Lapdos II, Charlie. The Lapdos you purchased in
Dec/90 is the same we offer now.  Back then, I simply overlooked its full name;
Lapdos II. I assure you, your version is absolutely the same version (1.42)
that we offer, today. There are no differences what so ever.

You are not the only one to ask ... Why the name differences between Lapdos and
Lapdos II, even though the DOS screen shows Lapdos v1.42?

In the beginning, Lapdos started its life as version 1.00--as a beta tester, I
still have the earlier versions. It shipped when a little timing-adjustment
and gender-matting block for TPDD operations to PC and XT MSDOS computers. At
that time in history, the MSDOS computer used only a D25M connector for the
serial ports and offered only two ports; COM1 and COM2. When the TPDD2 arrived
on the scene, Lapdos was modified to map both the TPDD and TPDD2. The TPDD2
offers a 200K format and two, 40 file directories; 0: and 1:.

Lapdos became Lapdos II (v1.42) when Traveling Software discovered a way to
have the Model 100, 102, 200 and NEC PC8201a emulate the TPDD. This was the
breakthrough we all wanted--direct connect between the laptop and MSDOS
computers. The LOADER.COM program on the Lapdos II distribution disk does the
trick of pumping the LAPDOS.BA, TPDD emulation program into the laptop. At
this same time, MSDOS computers were into the AT phase (286). Some of the new
AT's came with D9M connectors for their serial ports. Lapdos II accomidated
the differences with a multiheaded cable for both D25M and D9M connectors. The
Lapdos programmers also figured how to adjust for timing differences between
the portable devics (drives and laptops) and MSDOS computers, thus the
gender-matting block no longer needed timing-adjustments.

Lapdos II from Club 100 is the same Lapdos II that Traveling Software sold
before it moved onto richer markets. Lapdos II is versions 1.42 and will
remain as such forever.

Thanks again for asking about Lapdos II. -Rick-
