Subj: REPLY TO MSG #3398 (WHICH IS BETTER?)

I seriously looked at the WP-2. I currently use a M102 with UltraROM II for my
travel word processing needs. The main thing I can say about the WP2 is that
it is VERY SLOW in text processing. Yes, it is thin and light in comparison
with the Model T and it has a lot of text features, but what are you going to
be using it for? If you're only going to use it for text input for latter
downloading to a desktop or power user wordprocesser like MS Word or
WordPerfect, then you may not really need all the formating features and may
find the slowness and weird quarks in its programming intolerable in which case
you may be better off with the Model T and a URII. You can do a lot more with
the Model T. But if the WP2 is going to be your ONLY word processor and you
need all the formating capabilites, then it may be a good buy if the cost is
right.

Keep in mind, you can get some very inexpensive PC or XT laptops today for the
same price some are asking for a WP2 if you do not take into account the price
of software. For example, I was able to purchase a used Toshiba T1200 (XT
Compatiable), 1 meg RAM, 20 meg HD, DOS 5.0, new spare battery, and WordPerfect
Works 1.0 (new) all for less than $500. It's a super laptop which I use as a
Desktop computer. Some people are trying to sell the WP2 with extra RAM,
cables, and the separate disk drive for almost the same price. The WP2 is a
great little tool, if it's the kind of tool you really need or if a better tool
is too costly.

Good luck,
