----- Congratulations on your new computer and the super deal you cut... you wheeler/dealer you!! Hmmm... a Toshiba-specific DOS, huh? Hmmmm....! Yes, that could be true. First, you need to sit calmly and examine your opportunities. Who might have Toshiba DOS 3.3 or 4.01, with manuals, for less than $99 and be willing to sell you a copy, legally? I will brain-storm a list. Tracy Allen? I believe he has a Toshiba... Used computer sellers... check out businesses advertising in Computer Shopper, Computer Currents, and Micro Times. Call the lady back and insist on the DOS disk and manual or compensation for 1/2 it's new cost. She just might have it in a box somewhere and just does not know what it looks like. Try Uncle Ralph's in Berkeley. They deal in lots of stuff. Look in the newspapers for folks selling Toshiba laptops and call them. Perhaps someone will have an extra copy they will sell you. Check with stores like Fry's Electronics. They sell Toshiba's and are big enough to have out-dated copies of stuff in their warehouse. The president's name is John Fry. Tell him I sent you. When I was teaching at San Jose State I once had a team from my Systems Analysis class do a systems study of their computer repair procedure. John and I are both from Martinez. His parents are the ones who own and operate Fry's Food Stores. John is good people. Hope this helps... -Rick-
