Subj: INTERNET HOME PAGE INDEXING
TO ANYONE WITH A HOME PAGE: I'm planning to design business home pages to hawk my stuff. Then I'll go on the Internet with the home pages. But I can't find much info in books or elsewhere as to how to get myself listed in the various indexes used by the "search engines" as they've been called. I do know a bit about "Yahoo's" index. But not about the others or how they work. I want to make sure that I get listed so that anyone interested in my stuff can find it. For example: I wrote a book on the "Origin of Music." Therefore, I want to get listed under "Origin -- of Music", but also under "Music, Origin," or "Music -- Beginnings," or "Music, Start-wise," blah blah, leaving nothing to chance when someone is looking for the topic. Since (in this example) that'll be about 6.5 people in the entire world, I need to get listed in every which possibility way. So, concretely, here's my question: When I get on the Internet, how do I make sure I get those listings into the different search engines' indexes? Anyone out there "been there, done that" --yet? If so, details (what keys to push, what mouse hole to click into, etc) will be appreciated. I expect I will eventually be using "NETSCAPE" when I finally surface on the surfing turf. Also, anyone know which HTML converter(s) will convert word-processed files (made by using Microsoft-Works) into the HTML code? My name & number: Bob Fink, TEL: (306) 244-0679; FAX: (306) 244-0679 -- and of course the BBS and regular mail: 516 Ave K South, Saskatoon, Sask, S7M 2E2 CANADA.
