I was watching F1 racing last weekend, and I noticed that the dashboards on
these cars have big LCD displays. It looks like the displays are mainly
counting revs, fuel, stuff like that. It's set up in a really clearly legible
horizontal bar display, sort of like the way the Vector W-2 looks. That could
be handy for any car. Admittedly, many cars have trip computers already built
in, but I'd love one that could sense when I open the gas tank, figure out how
much I put in and at what mileage, etc...not only keep real-time info and basic
computations, but also log info... Fiberoptic, though? Seems like sort of a
waste of money. What's to gain? Signal loss is minimal when you're talking
about a couple of hundred feet of wire, and electronic sensors.
