Subj: REPLY TO MSG #787 (HOW ABOUT A DATE?)

So, if it is only the date display at the main menu that bugs you, yes it is
probably OK to just poke the 20 into the LCD. There might be an instant of
uncertainty, an instant when the display says 19 and then flashes over to 20.
But that's life. Is it a 19th, or a 20th, or a 21st century computer? It will
be the 21st century, you know!

One bone to pick with LapTopTip #1. CLEAR does empty the paste buffer and it
resets all BASIC variables to zeros or nulls. But it does not reset Himem, nor
does it reset the amount of reserve string space, nor does it flush the
"unsaved basic program" buffer. To clear out string space and to clean out all
the reserved (machine language) memory, type CLEAR 0,maxram. To flush the
unsaved basic program, type NEW. Many people don't realize that if you have an
unsaved BASIC program, then go and load another program, that unsaved program
is still there. Just go back to the main menu and reenter BASIC. There it is.
You have to type NEW to get rid of it.
