I know repairing the Kyo85 isn't practical, but I think this is a simple
problem, i.e. bad RAM backup battery or flaky RAM module. The Kyo85 isn't
supported, but the price is right. At least, I'd like to think that after
using this particular Kyo85 through college (before I gave it away), that I can
save it (dumb emotional thing). Anyway, I have the Kyo85 service manual (never
buy something expensive w/o one!) that I bought in 1986. The Kyo85 and M100
hardware are very similar (diff PROMs, no modem, no bar code port), so I'll
compare some voltages and check some signals on the scope (8085 is luckily a
relatively simple processor). If I cannot fix it, then I'll give it a nice
retirement.
