Data base...Base data.... hmmmmmmm.... Since the poor, I mean compact model 100
et al BASIC does not have the loc command, then any data base (assume ascII)
must be searched sequentially, counting the lines as it goes.  Of course,  an
index might locate the data on a certain line so we just note the carriage
returns for our counting.
 
Even a search pattern still counts every line, whether it searches the rest of
the line or not.
 
I'm saying this because the disk and the ram have no idea what address a line
might begin on.  Just as they have no idea where a file might begin until the
correct address (fluid as you use the machine) is set in the FAT (or its
equivalent).  Ram is much more fluid than disk.
