I recently got quite a laugh from Michael Hollander, Sysop of the Motor
Racing Forum on Compuserve. He (and later his wife) used an M100 without fail
to run it and correspond from tracks all over North America for 10 years. He
sold it last year to a woman who wanted to become one of their correspondents.
She finally committed to do last month's Mexican Grand Prix, but then last
minute went out and bought a new Mac laptop when her friend the "high-dollar SF
computer consultant/expert" told her the M100 was useless and couldn't do the
job. She left it at home, got to the track in Mexico City where she plugged the
Mac into the local power supply, and promptly fried it!!! She spent the entire
three-day weekend phoning and faxing reports in much to Mike's chagrin, since
he had to type them into the system on an already busy race weekend.<Aye
Carumba!!!>
You've hit it right on the head. Like I've always said, the computer
industry/business is based on keeping up with the Joneses, NOT
efficiency--dread the level of shame should my neighbor/co-workers/boss find
out I don't have this week's super-widget!!!!
