 The guy who wrote the tachometer project came out with it as a commercial
product, along with some "tachometer" and some "voltmeter" and some "chart
recorder" software.  I talked to him not more than 6 months ago, and he sent me
his catalog.  It was economical and looked like a pretty good product.  Maybe
he would be interested in selling through club100, because he has not carried
an ad in P100 for a couple of years.  He did carry an ad there for a few
monthas after his article appeeared.   But you cant't take on any new products,
right?  That !*$)(#*$ catalog!
  
  The cassette port is connected directly to the 80c85 cpu, through a
level-reducer on output and a filter and comparator on input.  The direct cpu
serial i/o is potentially very high speed interface, and it is really a shame
to waste it on a cassette.  Yes, it could be another general purpose serial i/o
or UART.  Software UART software for the 8080 is available public domain.
But..  there is that dumb filter and level shifter.  A major cut and paste job.
