Anton,

I was scanning through the messages and found your message to me (I think). It
didn't show up on "message waiting" notice when I logged on since you addressed
it to "Rick Lopez" and I spell my last name with an "s", ie "Lopes." It's a
Portugese family name with the "s" unlike the Spanish who spell it with a "z".

Anyway, I was glad to get your message and hope you find a good long distance
carrier soon. I know phone bills can be deadly.

My Apple IIc works fine and I when the IIc plus came out a few years ago, I
seriously considered trading in the old for the new because of the built in
slot, faster speed microprocesser, built in power supply, and 3 1/2 in disk
drive rather than the older 5 1/4 in. drive. But I figured with the high cost
of Apple machinines, I could have purchased a good used Mac. So I ended up
doing nothing. As for orphaned... the magazine you mentioned (InCider) is now
merged with another call A+ and called A+ InCider taking care of II's and Macs.
Seems a lot of people were moving up to Mac's so the publisher had to go with
the crowd. Magazines for orphaned computers are still around, but they're
slowly dying or moving, e.g. Portable 100 for the M100's etc is becoming a
MS-DOS magazine more and more each month since evidently a lot of people are
"moving up" to DOS. I guess the atomic half-life of orphaned computers is
similar to nuclear waste... they will last almost forever, but the economic
planners will say you can't use them anymore since they're half-dead or dying.

Take it easy and don't let the phone bill shock you too much.
    +Rick+
